The Famagusta Tourist Commercial Industrial Association was founded on the 18th of December 2012 at a district-wide gathering at the Xenon High School in the presence of more than 400 business people. The association was established with the agreement and practical support of the Mayors and Community Leaders of the District of Famagusta who had a strong presence at the inaugural gathering. Moreover, there had been several meetings prior to the inaugural gathering, which were attended by representatives of the local authorities, all of the professional bodies and organisations of the District of Famagusta, and distinguished business people. The need to establish a legal entity to represent the District of Famagusta in decision-making centres was the key subject at the preceding meetings, and the final decision to establish the Famagusta Tourist Commercial Industrial Association was unanimous.
